Today a drive to Toronto. Was Ok, just wet wet wet but we had another CD ‘The Midnight House’, to listen to, this time in 9 parts, so the hours flew past. The only slight worry about the hours flying past like that, is getting so absorbed in the story that you cant remember anything about the journey.

We drive in the slow lane most of the time because of this. We arrived at a hotel in the middle of downtown Toronto and not a few miles outside it, for a change. We were given a room 22 floors up but one go in the creaking lift and we changed it to a room on the second floor. Neil zizzed while I explored. Later we drove down what must qualify for the longest road in the world—Dundas Street—to number 2216, and to the venue Neil had played twice before called Hugh’s Room. This is a fabulous place, with fabulous people, sound and food. There is nothing that is not good about Hugh’s Room – it is one of Neil’s favourite places. Low stage, audience to side and front, good lighting. I suppose it helps that he always gets a good reception here, the audience joining in with gusto, laughing, clapping and cheering in equal measure. Neil is having a ball, completely makes up for New Hampshire. Outside it is still pouring – we had heard tornadoes were expected, but I think it is raining too heavily for the winds to get going. Hard even to stand up out there.
